On Being MaGa

Eighteen months ago I was finally blessed with my first grandchild, although not under the best circumstances.  It is likely that he will be the only one, my two older children being in their 30's and having children not being in either of their close futures.

Because I was out of work, and the wonderful area we live, I volunteered to care for him while his parents got their feet more squarely under themselves.  Avior James stays with me four days a week, which is at the same time a huge joy with lots of laughs and fun and an exhausting endeavor with teething, diapers and the challenge of keeping a toddler safe.

This past autumn I got all the clothing items he would need for the winter.  I bought overalls, thinking that because they are adjustable, we'd make it through the winter with the wardrobe just fine.  I think I forgot how fast they grow.  It seems like just the other day I was rolling up the legs and setting the shoulder straps shorter.  Now the snaps don't stay snapped, the straps are as long as they will go, and I think when he bends over he is getting wedgies.  So what, I have to buy another wardrobe to finish out the winter?  That doesn't make MaGa very happy.

Fortunately, I found a young mother close by who posted on Craiglist that she had 24 month boy winter clothes for sale, cheap.  What a find.  The clothes are nice enough, nothing fancy, but sturdy and warm and will enable my little guy to be dressed for the rest of the winter months.

More to come,
MaGa.
