The Mundane

Saturday morning. Raining, warm. Paul is off to the grocery store. Today's agenda:

Wash linens. Clean upstairs bathroom. Make spiced nuts for chopped salad with dinner tonight. Start my second course - Mastering Project Management. (Aced the first course). Take a shower. Make dinner - stuffed flounder, lemon stir fry rice, chopped salad. (company for dinner) Go to a movie, presently unchosen.

What I'd REALLY like on my agenda today:

Go to book store. Find a couple books to get totally lost in. Pick up some chinese food and a pie. Go back home. Crawl back in bed. Read. Eat chinese food. Read. Sleep. Eat the pie, while still in bed. Read. Get up and play spider solitair on the computer. Have a cup of decaf coffee. Go back to bed. Read. Call it a day and go to sleep until tomorrow.

The continuing saga with the boy:

It only gets more interesting, but the time to share is not right yet. But it's big, stay tuned. He's still going to school, so thats something.

Work drama:

Actually slayed a couple dragons last week...but the herd is way too big. I'll never get them all. Got some big kudo's for successfully fast-tracking renovations on the base commander's home...got this 200 year old home finished in record time and impressed some very high-level people. Not that anyone will remember that the next time I screw up, but might be worth a good Christmas bonus this year.

Speaking of Christmas:

Am beginning to get the holiday anxieties. I heard on the radio there was only about 60 more shopping days left...less by now. This year has been a big blur. I haven't finished last year's shopping. Years ago, in another lifetime, making holidays was what I did. Decorating, baking, planning, visiting - all part of my homemaking role. Pure joy. Today I'm learning how to fit my real life around my full time, demanding job and still haven't discovered a comfortable balance.

Well...first load of laundry is beeping at me, must get second load in and find my focus for studies. Apologies for last week's rambling. On the plate for next week - Melanie's birthday, (want to do something for her that let's her know how special she is to me and Paul) and delivery of new couch for downstairs, and Lord only knows what surprises. I need a good deep cry...the kind that leaves you breathless and sobbing.

Peace
