I watched two mourning doves today. A male and a female. The male had his feathers puffed out...his chest huge with his feathers. He was chasing the female, who was hopping away from him as fast as she could. The pair reached the chain link fence where she deftly hopped through a link. He could not follow because he was so puffed up. He stood there a moment and watched her get away and then turned around, defeated.
Can anyone create an Aesop type lesson for this?
I thought of this one - "puffy chest will not a lover make"
Peace
