Got almost halfway to work this morning, and CLICK. Remembered that the pets have a vet appointment at 8:40. So I turned around and while driving back home tried to think what on earth caused me to remember. It's a mystery the way my brain is wired...
So in a little bit I have to find the cat and stuff him in the crate. He will not be happy.
The dogs are still gated in my bedroom, where they are stored until I get home from work unless the boy is home and lets them out. If Rocko doesn't hide under the bed, getting them into the car shouldn't be too hard, but Rocko will be skittish for a few days hence, and curse me under his breath.
At the vet's - this part is not fun. Sort of like herding kittens. Nikko spazzes. She hates it there, the strange smells and other pets make her crazy. She pants and gets real tense, drools, and almost every time, poops on the floor. Not the kind of behavior that gets an "Oh, what a nice little dog" from the other patients. She is up on my lap, down on the floor, up on my lap, down on the floor. She whines. Rocko can't graft himself close enough to me.
When I debate the wisdom of taking the three at the same time, I balance it with the inconvenience of three separate appointments. It is a lose/lose. So I opt for the one time deal, and try to drag someone with me, and usually Paul is available. But not today. Sean is home, though.
Now, having Sean "help" is always tricky. If he is focused, he is helpful. BUT, keeping him focused tends to divide MY focus even more. And he talks, man that boy is a talker. We're playing Rock Band and I'm concentrating so hard, and he is playing guitar, not missing a beat, and talking a mile a minute. Blows my mind.
I've decided NOT to have Nikko's vocal chords cut. At 13 she's wicked healthy, so it's not so much her age, health wise. It's just that after 13 years, I've lived with the majority of the barking problem. I think we can hang in there for a few more. It's always an option if something changes. They will have their yearly shots, health check, and I will spend a fortune for that and Heart Guard, Frontline, and tick collars for all of them. I think I bought my first car for what I spend at the vet's now. Nikko needs to be set up for a teeth cleaning. Her breath smells like low tide on an August day.
Then I'll head to the office, then off the Newport. When I get home tonight I will finish making granola and spiced nuts. Started the granola yesterday but put on hold when I discovered I had no light brown sugar. How did that happen??!!
Hope everyone enjoys the day, and the kids are healthy, no Pit Bulls are running loose, and rashes heal.
Peace
