Saturday my daughters brought me some sunflowers from Buttonwoods. I have a little table that I had sanded down and it was just waiting for some paintbrush action. You guessed it. Yesterday during the thunderstorm with some light jazz, some Maroon 5, Aerosmith and Don Mclean I went to work...

My original idea was to paint the reflection as well as the flowers itself, (above) but I canned that idea. I was going for a depth...

This is where I left off yesterday, (above) The next are where I left off today after work. I am too tired and grouchy to do anymore. Still have to paint the stems, pretty much finished the blooms. I need to work on some shadowing, then I'll clean up the table a little more, choose a stain and varnish.

It all keeps me out of trouble. Sort of. Was a bit snappish today. Some more of my books came in and Paul opened the mail next to me while I checked out which books came. I opened one of the packages and discovered "Trying to Save Piggy Snead" by John Irving. Paul asked, "who is Piggy Snead?".
Was he serious? Cause I was out of patience for rhetorical.
Then he asked something else that made no sense to me, so I asked him, as I do X when she is being somewhat rediculous, "do you need attention?" He just looked at me, funny like, and after a minute asked, "do you need solitude?".
To which I chuckled and told him I was off to the garage to paint.
I'll try to finish up the flowers tomorrow, then on to the next step and maybe by next week I'll have an unique little table. To do what with I do not know.
Peace

i love it! i had said when we were at the field that i wish was the kind of artist that traveled with my paint... the view was so amazing.
we need to sit and chat. i have trouble with supplies - what to use where, which paint type is best. i work with acrylic, and i am ready to branch out. let me know when you have coffee time. i'd love to pick your brain. =)
V - besides the pottery, what art classes have you taken, if any? wondering, cause i have some of those same issues, too. i've taken only a few classes. i just try things and see how they work... years of experimenting. what times/days are good for you to have coffee? do you want to come here or meet?
i have not taken any art classes at all. it is something i have always been interested in and have held back on. i also just try things and see what works, but i have a rough time experimenting because i am so paranoid that i will screw up. it's a weird thing i have. i have it in my head that "real" artists are just born with this knowledge, and i don't fit the bill..
i am available mondays and thursdays, or any weekend. get my email from yo daughter. we'll chat...
Elf,
Rrrot Rrro' this is all I know..Piggy Snead is a collection of short stories by John Irving the guy born in Exeter N.H (my home state) who also wrote "Cider House Rules". Should I know more? I am somewhat frightened to ask! But-Got to love Paul with the "Do you need solitude?" How frigging perfect a line is that? Off to explore with your child today-looking forward to it...but please don't tell her this fact. ;-)
