A biology teacher friend told me something interesting the other day - Jewel weed is a plant that tends to grow by poison ivy, and is a natural remedy for it. (He says this happens a lot in nature, where the remedy will be close by the culprit.) The treatment is to simply rub the leaves of the Jewel weed over the afflicted area. I'm not sure if that would be at the time of exposure to the poison ivy, or if it would still be affective after the rash has appeared. X can let us know.

I am missing Page Turner. I am hoping that PT is having WAY too much fun (fingers SO crossed) that she hasn't been able to find a spare moment to pop by and share a word or two.

Another beautiful weekend, my friends. I've left Sunday wide open - would anybody care to come play by the lake??

Last night I was awake from about 3:15 to about 4:30. Damn happenings in the yard that included some drama with a skunk. The dogs went crazy. Nikko calmed down enough to eat what was left of her food - and she was talking with her mouth full, too, which was kinda funny and wouldv'e been more funny if the skunk smell wasn't so bad and it wasn't the middle of the night. Crunch, crunch, bark, bark, crunch. I was glad kitty was in. Don't know what was happening out there, but I had to finally get up and close windows and doors the smell was so bad. This morning I decided that it was just right to treat myself to a Dunkin Donuts Great One with xtra xtra cream. Yum.

Have a new camera. Can't figure out how to delete the pictures. Hate having to learn new gadgets. Can we just take a hiatus for about five years on any new technology until I get a handle on the stuff thats out now? When we were in Lancaster we used a Garmin. I fell in love with it. I think I want one.

I'm enjoying Mary Todd Lincoln. I think the biggest lesson I am learning from this reading is that history is SO subjective! She was a real character. Talk about "living your life out loud", Mary Lincoln's life screamed to be lived on HER terms. Love it.

So was this jewel weed growing near poison ivy? Interesting tidbit. He/she should write a book about that stuff-I'd buy it. Please X, do a scientific study for us-be a guinea pig....
Love the skunk story. Perfect ending.
Glad you got a new camera!!!! Yea! Are you going to share Lancaster pics?
And MTL-not boring huh? I was kinda thinking that would be a Winter read. Maybe I'll make it an after Labor Day read.
Since Sunday is free, hop on a plane and come celebrate my daughter's birth with me. She will be 6 and this morning I just watched her sleep-in total awe and love.
Have a GREAT weekend!
ELF!!!!!
Hi-ya-Pal,
I actually almost called you-which would be a huge step in our relationship to see if you wanted to play hookey some day to hang? Now I am asking in a public forum where I risk rejection out loud. Whew bravery at it's finest!!!!!!!
Very interesting on the jewel weed. Love the skunk piece as I can picture it. Boy how true on the MTL and history being subjective! I can't read my copy but am working on another one. A dirt cheap if not free one as that is in my budget what with Shaman, EMDR, and "exploring my inner selfness" or should I say selfmess?
Hm, maybe not funny.
YAY on the camera! Can't wait on the results...will you post some?
I think I might call H too...I love how she loves her kids. BTW, I love that about you too Elf...
X rocks, cool child you got!
Thanks for missing me, and noticing my absence. It was so, so appreciated. N has not taken two days off in an eternity. Well, except for my brother's funeral, and open heart surgery on my Dad.
Not my idea of ideal time off!
