Fortunately, Unfortunately

One of my favorite old children's books is called Fortunately, by Remi Charlip. It is about a person who is Fortunately invited to a party.

My children and I turned it into a game, one we would play on road trips. We'd just take turns: X, "Fortunately, I got an A in social studies", Gabe, "Unfortunately the teacher lost the test", Sean, "Fortunately I got to poop in the potty". Sean, being much younger than the other two would put his own twist on things. Sometimes weaving these Fortunately-Unfortunately tales would result in peals of good hard eye watering belly laughter.

As we approach Friday, I've been thinking of my week past in terms of Fortunately-Unfortunately:

I had a couple CTs scheduled for Monday, (8:30) and also needed more lab work for another doctor. Both required fasting, so my plan was to hit the lab first, then the hospital for radiology. If I timed it right, it would work, and I wouldn't have to fast twice.

Fortunately, I got to the lab, and there was no wait. Five minutes, in and out. No kidding. Plenty of time to get to my appointment without being late, or with too much time to spare. Perfect.

Unfortunately, when I got to the next appointment, I was told that my appointment was for 8:30 PM, not 8:30 AM. I was 12 hours and fifteen minutes early.

Fortunately, they were sympathetic, not too busy, and were able to squeeze me in. And in good time, too. I didn't have to wait long at all.

Unfortunately, that meant I was at work sooner.

Fortunately, I sucked down a Great One, xtra xtra xtra cream because it was more convenient than waiting until I got to work to make a cup of tea. So I was cracking at work. No pun intended.

Unfortunately, when I got home, I discovered that I only had one of my silver drop earings in my ears.

Fortunately, the next day, I found it on my desk. My coworker had found it in the blueprint room. Yay team.

Unfortunately, I am still on the treadmill at work, but

Fortunately, I finally recieved the Certificates of Occupancy on two of the four homes that were being inspected by the 'owners' that morning.

Unfortunately, I discovered a leak in one of the bathrooms, 30 minutes before the inspection.

Fortunately, the plumbers were working on some other homes down the street and jumped to my call for help. and were able to fix the leak. It was only minorly serious. Can I describe the panic??

Unfortunately, we didn't even GET to the owner inspections on those two homes, because they took so long in the first two.

Fortunately, we were able to reschedule the inspection for this morning.

And that is as far as I can go with this right now. Unfortunately, I had some items to address after the inspections. Fortunately, they are completed. Unfortunately, I don't know if the 'owners' will have time to check them tomorrow, when they are due. Fortunately, I am not losing sleep over it.

Unfortunately, there is a lack of peace in our world, but Fortunately, I wish it for you all...

Peace
