Drumming to Lenny Kravitz

We decided this morning not to go to Ledyard to continue our cleaning/painting endeavors. It was snowing pretty good this morning. Any excuse.

So let me tell you how the day played out instead:

I had my left-over chicken marsala from Valentino's at about 10:00 am. And thought about Paul's comment over dinner last night, "at least we're not at the age yet where we share one plate at dinner" and wondered if ordering dinner with lunch in mind is not pretty much close to the same thing. In any case, it was as delicious for breakfast as it was the night before.

I zoned over several free cell games, and thought about trying to reach the one thousandth game today. I'm at 931 games, and have only lost 3. My longest winning streak is 397. I know, X, I'm such a loser.

Sean, Paul & I had coffee in front of the fireplace and discussed things like house rules, expectations (from everybody), goals, plans and strategies.

Then since Sean was on the computer, I put in a load of laundry and played some drums. I've played most those songs over and over again, and in a whiny voice asked Paul if I could download some new ones. He is the one with the account, so has to go to the site and buy the points necessary for downloading the new tunes. Which he did. During the downloading of a Roy Orbison set, which he was all for because he likes those songs and they are easy even on difficult, I got bored with the waiting, and we decided to go explore the ice on the lake.

WE HAD SO MUCH FUN. There is a layer of snow, but it is not too heavy, pretty fluffy. The surface beneath the snow varies, but there is a lot of skatable surface. So we started, and made paths and paths and paths and paths. Twisting and turning, around the island, back and forth.

I could hardly move my body when we finally decided that we should call it quits. There was little wisdom in spending that much time doing that much physical excercise, using muscles that we haven't used in two years since the last time we went skating. Paul & I managed to get into our swimsuits, I took some Aleve and we headed for a soak in the hot tub. This was gonna feel good.

There is something wrong with the hot tub.

The water was tepid, not hot at all, even though the LED indicator indicated 104 degrees, exactly the temp I like. Ruh Roh. Not only disappointing, but if it freezes, we could be in trouble.

I'll think about that tomorrow.

Not to be sidetracked, I filled up the tub and sat in the bathroom. Hmmmph. Not the same, but close. I am reading SUCH A GOOD BOOK. I seriously recommend it. It's by Sherman Alexie, and when I'm finished this confabulation I am going to order EVERY other book by this author. Here's a picture of the book, it's called "The Absolutely True Diary of a Part-Time Indian".

What's that next to the book? A Nestle's Crunch Bar? A gigantic one? Two plus hours of skating and shovelling cancels that out, right? Besides, I'm also going to order some more spirulina when I order the books.

Okay - I finished the book when I was in my bath. I couldn't, absolutely couldn't, stop reading it. Now it's back to the new Wally Lamb book. I took a hiatus. Although an excellent story, and authored giftedly, it's big and moving. It's heavy. It needs to be put down for a quick minute.

After my book/bath was finished, I put another load in the washing maching, and then downloaded a Lenny Kravitz pack for Rock Band. I found the Crunch Bar, 'cause it is supper time and I don't feel like cooking, and thought I'd just blog while I wait for that to finish downloading.

Honestly, can you believe I'm going to be 51 in a few weeks? After reading this? Should I be ashamed? Nah, I'm not. I wonder what my kids think of their mother though - playing solitaire on the computer, playing in the snow and ice skating for hours, sitting in the tub reading for more hours, downloading new music for Rock Band, eating a candy bar for supper and chicken marsala for breakfast. I'd grow up, but I'm only 4'9". But hey, I didn't break a hip.

No wonder they haven't made me a grandmother yet.

Peace

Thanks, X. Thats sweet. Almost gotcha, too.

Why does that sound familiar... Yellow Raft in Blue Water? I just looked at the jacket, thought it was one of the 'praise for this book' people, but no.

I'll order that one too. And Foo, I'm saving this book for you, not only for you to read, but for E in just a couple years...i'd wait and send as gift, but I'll forget, you know, because of my clotted coratid. (sp)

You might have read it. Look it up on amazon and check out the specs before you spend $$ on it.

Glad you didn't break a hip and I celebrate your youthfulness. I hope to be more like you someday. I admire you and you will probably live to 100 if your carotid isn't clogged that is.

I'm bouncing around with excitement-1 more week.....:)
