The kids often have a jest or two at my expense. I tend to use the adjective 'nice' to describe lots of things, which they think is retardedly funny.
Right now, I'm enjoying a nice break. I've made myself a nice lunch of cottage cheese, avocado stuffed with tuna and some nice baby carrots. yummmmmm. I had a nice little chat with Foo this morning, as she shared in her delight and surprise at waking up to 7" of snow! How nicely cool is that. I made a nice fire in the wood stove and my little feet feel nice and snug in the new slippers X and Mel gave me for my birthday.
Nice.
Yesterday, early afternoon, after puttering the morning away, Paul & I headed to X & Mel's. We had a nice drive up, Paul reveling in puffing a nice cigar while I read out loud some nutrition information from a small nutrition magazine we receive each month.
Paul & X had a raquetball game lined up, and I joined Mel for a fairly grueling walk for someone not used to walking up a quarter mile hill.
Then Mel made a really nice supper - asparagus soup, banging salad and X made fresh bread. After cleaning up, we headed out to the Banff Fim Festival in Glastonbury. We watched a film about an extremely talented young man who could do many things with his bicycle, including ride along the top of fences, hop from thing to thing, pretty amazing. The next film was about a company who wants to put a copper/gold mine at the mouth of a river in Alaska. This river contains the biggest amount of salmon in the world. It supports many lifestyles, such as local fishermen and fly fishing guides. A little animated film about a man who uses papiroflexia to change to modern world back to it's natural beauty. There was an intermission with a drawing for some nice prizes, and back to more films: Back country skiing, where the skiers could spend 6 or more hours going up a mountain with cross country skis, only to go back down the fresh virgin snow. Many nice scenic shots in this. An amazing story of a woman boulder climber, a film about the poisoning of Greenland, featuring a couple young friends who are concerned about losing their homes, some badass white water kayaking, and a charming little film called the Red Helmet, where a little boy wo is afraid to jump off the dock into the water with his friends walks dejectedly away and comes upon a red helmet. When he places it on his head he can see amazing exploits of other people wearing a red helmet - base jumping, mountain climbing, etc. and gains enough courage from those visions to return to the dock and jump in. It was a wonderful little piece. Oops, I mean a nice little piece.
I had some tasks assigned for completion today. Little tasks, like cleaning out the refridgerator, (there are some leftovers in there that I can't even remember when they were originally made), laundry, making a nice pumpkin lasagna with sausage style veggie protein, (I'm sure it will be nice), a little reading in the hot tub...
But I think it's time for a nice little nap. If the weather predictions are accurate, we're in for a nice storm, and maybe work will be cancelled tomorrow. That would be nice.
So, it's been fun. It is my hope that you all have a
nice, PEACEful day.

Elf,
N and I had a nice visit with X and M this afternoon. That film festival sounds fantastic-and I heard it is in my neighborhood tomorrow. Hm. For the record, I say "nice" and "cool" way more than is the norm. So, thanks for the cool, nice post and the peace wishes. Right back at you Sistah!
Paige
