Technological Advances or When Things Get Screwed Up

A couple weeks ago I sought a small loan from the Credit Union I use, a signature loan.

I sat with the representative about the loan, and she took my information and entered it on her screen. She looked up after some minutes and told me I'd been approved. But wait, there was a problem with the application on the server or something. She had to re-enter the information. La di dah di dah...I waited. Then she had to make a phone call and whatever. Then she said I was approved, but they needed my two most recent pay stubs.

Whatever.

The next business day I brought in my two most recent pay stubs for another person to fax somewhere, as I was instructed to do. I asked this person how I would know about the loan, and was told offhandedly, "oh, you can just call".

Meanwhile, Paul suggested that I take my loan from our equity account because it costs less in interest. I agreed and he wrote a check from that account for the same amount I was asking the credit union for. I never called about the loan, and figured if it was never finalized with a signature or call, so they would drop it too.

Today I opened a week's worth of mail. (I never get important mail, Paul does). I received a payment notice from the credit union, for not one loan payment, but payment on TWO loans!

I went online and checked my account. There was as much money in there as there should be with the deposit I made with the check Paul gave me.

My accounts information shows a savings, a checking, and two loans. I have no clue where the money is.

So tomorrow I've got to straighten that out, and I won't be happy if they charge me interest to give the money back, when I don't have it, and didn't want it. WTF.

I also recieved a second notice for a questionaire regarding a workman's compensation claim I made December 11th.

This one totally caught me off guard! I've made only one workman's compensation claim, many years ago when my little toe broke in a closing fire door. It was simply for the doctor's visit and xray. Where does this shit come from?? So also on my list of things to do tomorrow is to contact these jokers.

And Paul caught a reoccuring automatic payment on my credit card from some internet site that I joined without realizing it. They trick you that way. Another thing to straighten out. By the way, it wasn't porn. Just saying.

The lesson? Must be diligent, and keep track of all the stuff that is going on about you that you don't know a thing about. Good luck and Happy Trails.

Peace

WTF? Jeezzus, this all scares me. I recently tried to make 10 loan payments on my car w/each slip and one check. Nope. Can't do that. Huh? Who the hell makes that rule? The "it is about you the customer" mentality is so, so, so gone.

What else can I say, but What the Fuck? Too!

Stay away from money laundering, false workman's comp claims, and porn sites. It just isn't ethical, Elf....
