Lets start with Easter day.
Quiet in the morning. Paul was off playing the last game of his chess tournament. I was enjoying some R & R.
When he got home, we booked to New London to pick Sean up, (along with 5 loads of his laundry) then off to East Lyme for dinner with friends. It was a terrific time, visiting with good people whom I hadn't seen in a long while.
Dropped Sean off back in New London, and from there headed back to V-Town. Paul & I popped a movie in, and I started on the laundry.
Monday morning came. Along with a raging headache (sinuses) and queezy tummy. I called work. Nothing much was going on, I told my boss, and unless something came up I would be home. I felt better as the day got later. And Sean called. He had had to call out of work at Wendy's on Easter, because he didn't have a ride home at 2:30 AM. But he was on the schedule Monday from 4PM until 2:30AM. His car is unsafe to drive at this point, and what was he going to do? He couldn't call out again.
Meanwhile, an old acquaintance of mine had volunteered to fix Sean's car for the price of the parts. We gave him an inventory of the parts we thought the car would need. He was going to price them out and give me a call back. That was on Good Friday. I still hadn't heard.
Oh well. It looked like Mom was going to have to invest some road time in the support of Sean's hopeful success. I told Sean that I would pick him up in New London at 3:30PM and also pick him up after work at 2:30AM. *sigh*
I left V-Town at 2:30 Monday afternoon to arrive in New London for Sean by 3:30. I was a bit early. I dropped him off at Wendy's in Groton for 4Pm, and drove back to V-Town, arriving home at 5PM. After a little supper and reading, I tried to see if I could sleep at around 7PM. Huh. I set my phone alarm and dresser alarm for 1:30AM and curled up to read some more.
You know how when you TRY to go to sleep, you can't? It just sort of has to happen by itself while you are not thinking about it, or forget about it. But I finally did. And woke promptly to the alarms at 1:30AM. Quickly made a cup of tea to bring with, and set out in the cold dark night towards Groton.
The phone alarm was set on a snooze setting for every 5 minutes. It kept going off. I pressed the red button, because I know where that one is in the dark, but it kept going off. I kept pressing the button. Every 5 minutes for the 35 mile drive. I drove slowly on the diabolically curvy road I take for that destination, because I was concerned about critters crossing the road, especially while I was pressing the red button on my phone. I played a CD that Paul had made, which had an interesting blue grass version of Pink Floyd's "Money". There is NO description for the weirdness that encompassed my entire soul out there in the middle of the night on this lonely dark country road with blue grass "Money" playing. I changed the CD to Jason Moraz and sipped my tea. Much better.
And found myself in New London. Ooops. I went over the bridge by mistake, so had to turn around and head back to Groton to Wendy's to get Sean. Made it in time. And figured out how to turn the snooze off. Yay team.
After dropping him off back in New London, I headed the car out to V-Town, arriving at about 3:30AM. I went back and forth about the wisdom of catching a few more Z's before I had to get up for work, or just stay up. I voted for the Z's. Got up at about 6AM, got ready for work and headed BACK to Groton.
And Sean called. He has work again at Wendy's, this shift from 7PM until closing - 2:30AM. And lets not make it TOO easy on Mom. He is also opening the following morning at McDonalds in Niantic. 4:30AM.
It gets better. After talking with the friend who is fixing Sean's car, we decided it needed to be dropped off at his house. So yesterday, (Tuesday), Paul got out of work a little early to drive over to the guys's house, which is about halfway between Groton and V-Town, and I followed him. He dropped his Suburu off there, and drove with me BACK to Groton. There we had a nice dinner together at a new sushi restaurant, until it was time to pick Sean up. We headed to New London at about 6 or so. Sean eventually found the key to his car, which Paul drove back to the friend's house, dropped off and took his Suburu home the rest of the way. I brought Sean to work in Groton, stopped for gas and cigarettes and headed back to V-Town, arriving at about 7:45PM. Enough time to do a load of laundry, shower, reset all the alarms and hit the hay.
Couldn't fall asleep. Well, maybe at about 9:30PM or so. Jumped out of bed at 1:30 this morning, gathered everything I would need for work, because I wasn't going to be able to get back home. Even remembered to remember my toothbrush so I could brush at work. But I forgot it anyway. Drove the long dar lonely road back to Groton, AGAIN went to New London by mistake. Turned around, went back to Groton and picked Sean up. What does one do for an hour between two jobs in the wee early start of a new day? We came to my office. He freshened up, changed, and then hopped back into my rolling cage, and headed down the pike to Niantic to get him to work for his 4:30AM opening shift. I am back at my office now, and have been here a long time.
What is on my agenda for the day?
A trip to Newport.
Because life is nothing unless you see it flying by the driver's side window.
Add a little blue-grass for spice.
And you are on your way.
Peace, my friends

Wow!! Which bridge do you take to get to Newport??
Keeping my fingers crossed that Sean's car will be fixed quick...
