It's almost 7am. Goodness. Where does the time go?
This morning I woke up with the birds. They're pretty noisy this time of year. Also the steadily pouring rain. The clock read almost 4am. Rainy Sunday morning. Not fair.
But,
If I get up, I'll be good and tired tonight, so may be able to sidestep those Sunday night "Fuck, tomorrow is Monday" blues which tend to keep me awake longer than I like.
So I did. I got up, made coffee and sat down to play on the computer for a bit. Windows tells me it downloaded some updates just before I got up, and it seemed to me to be a good time to install them, it being 4am or so on a Sunday morning, I clicked "install updates".
I hate Microsoft.
Once it was done installing, it required a restart. Not only do I hate Microsoft, but am less than impressed with HP as well. My computer takes a long time to start from shut down. It is busy loading applications I don't even know exist - big secret or something. I let Windows reboot - it took at least an hour for the configurations. Since I was on my second something cup of cream with coffee, I was motivated to fill in the time puttering - making the bed, picking up socks, putting away the laundry from last week, cleaning the kitchen...meanwhile, peeking at the computer to see how things were moving.
I noticed a screen saver. I don't use screen savers. wtf. Warmed up my cream with a little more coffee from the pot, and logged in. Guess what. I no longer have sound. "No audio has been installed for this device".
PAAAUUULLL! He hates Microsoft, too. Might be time to learn Linux.
Anyhoooo, I played on Facebook a bit yesterday. Might figure things out there. The chances are good I'll be active for a little while, then not go on it for a long time, forget my password, and that will be that. Knowing me.
Paul cut down another tree yesterday. Then I was able to finish putting in the split rail fence. We have dirt to put over the fill for the road, and bring the low parts of the yard up to grade, and will have another good size chunk of lawn on the side. I have bunches of Shasta Daisys to plant along the fence together with some Flox that I need to transplant. Loving it.
We bought a yard tractor yesterday, with a cart. Last year I moved yards and yards of dirt with a wheelbarrow, but this year the dirt needs to go uphill. Hence the cart. I've been working on the border along the walk to the lake and it's looking like someone loves it. Today, in between spells of rain I will transplant more plants into the border.
Little by little by little things are looking like they make sense around here. Perhaps when we retire we can simply enjoy what we've accomplished.
I'm also exploring a possible new creative outlet - stone etching. Played with my new diamond tip dremel bits. I think I could have some fun with this.
Peace
