I gave blood for the first time in Connecticut yesterday. I used to give regularly in Mississippi, and in fact used to give plasma. I didn't realize until yesterday that my type of blood, O positive, is a universal type, and can be used by anybody. I will have to make it a regular part of my life now, giving blood. My hemoglobin was 14.7, which is excellent. Go me. Must be the spirulina and soy. Anyway, the blood drive was in one of those big bus things. And I was horrified because it was running the whole day. Although I believe making it easy for people to give blood benefits the drive, can we not contribute to greenhouse gasses and wasted energy while we do it? Please?
Paul and I finished Gone With The Wind last night, while we ate Paul's Lentil Bake. Which would have been way more tasty if he didn't use low fat cheese, which I HATE. His intent was wonderful, looking out for our health, but low fat dairy products all suck. I'd rather abstain as a rule, and enjoy whole dairy products as an occasional treat than resort to low fat. Yuk. Anyway. My brain just keeps wanting to go in different directions today. Gone With The Wind was not so bad after all. Was that a big old soap opera or what??? My favorite line is when Scarlet says, "I can't think about that today. I'll go crazy. I'll just think about it tomorrow." I love it.
Chuckling this morning on my ride to work, my back was sore, and I was noting in my head where the pain was radiating to from the crack in my back, and I remembered that old children's rhyme, "step on a crack and break your mother's back" and I wondered which of my children freaking did that.
I am drinking coffee today. (with REAL cream, lots) Lord help us all since I am already jetting. It is going to be a TERRIFIC weekend here, starting with a mini vacation with X & Mel: lunch at Zavala's, checking out the Fair Trade store, and Oh Brazil, and maybe some antique shops if we have time before the movie. Paul will go to his meeting and I think X & Mel & I will go to the casino and waste some more time. I am not going to do ANY work around the house. Sunday I am going to take PT's suggestion and work on my painting. At least when I'm not in the hot tub with a good book - I've started the Rabbit series by John Irving. Paul and I are going to watch a couple more Decalogue films, and enjoy some conversations about them. I think sometimes we have to recognize the benefits of indolence.
Anyhoo - Peace

Matt has O+ blood as well. I'm surprised that you didn't know how valuable it was.
I'm glad that you suffered through Gone With the Wind. It's a classic, especially for southerners. Probably hard for a Yank to appreciate. Interestingly it and the Wizard of Oz were the first movies filmed in color and had to share the camera. It took a long time to make. My favorite line is: "But Miss Scarlet, I don't know nuthin' bout birthin' no babies!"~Prissy as Melanie's baby was on it's way after assuring Scarlet that she was an old pro at delivering babies.
As for the end of your blog, I had to go look up the word 'indolence'. How did you get such a vocabulary??????? Is that a word that most people use and I'm just a dumb ole southern rebel or are you just a smart northerner?
lol - we northerners have long winters, so we invent words to describe southerners...
