Grooming Day

(This piece is dedicated to V.)

I can't find Rocko. Any other day he is trying to graft himself to me, but he hasn't been groomed in months, due to winter weather, and he must know that it's coming soon, like any minute. He's been watching carefully for the signs...
In fact, it's today.

Hide, Rocko, hide.

Nikko is showing signs of aging. Not only is my formerly coal black puppy seriously peppered with gray, but last night I heard her jump off the bed to get a slurp of water, and she softly vocalized to me. I had to turn on the light so she could see the bed to jump back on. She's been showing new behaviors, such as expressing a strong desire for almonds when I am munching on them. Like they're her favorite treat in the whole world, and I've only been eating them for about six months. I have never given her any. Where did that come from?? And ransacking the trash cans for goodies. Something I had trained her not to do more than ten years ago. This coming September she will turn fourteen. Physically, Nikko is still bouncy and healthy and playful.

-And here are some "apres grooming" shots:

Believe it or not, this sad face of Nikko's is because she HATES having the camera pointed at her. When she hears the "boop beep boop" of the camera turning on, she high-tails it out of there. But her new haircut is very pretty, dontcha think? Better when she holds her ears up tall and smiles, though. Hard to catch.

Well, hello handsome. Now, was that so bad???

Peace

I LOVE Those two. Give them a hug for me.
And quit adding a year to Nikko's age. You got her in fall 1996--my first semester in college....that means she'll be 13 this fall.
And she's young...STILL young.

and are those pics at the top from yesterday???? They didn't seem so gruffy when I saw them last week.

Rocko looks like one of those old tree man things that people stick on trees in the before pics.

Back to ewok in the last....sigh...much better!

Don't worry about Nikko until she starts misplacing her keys....
