This was before we went Beaver Watching. Which is a whole nother post.
In some waiting room somewhere, I had read in a magazine an article about getting organized, and there were some nifty tips noted there. One was to organize your refrigerator. It stated that of course, you should keep like items together. Of course. Because you are the only one who uses the refrigerator and can keep a handle on that.
Anyway. The article further states that when you bring your items home from the grocery, that is the time to put together your (what I call) 'grab & go's'. These are the items such as celery and carrots that you want to put in containers that are ready for you to simply grab, and go.
By the time Paul got home, I was halfway done with cleaning the fridge, and discovering the mysteries held within it's deep recesses. When I was finished, I attacked the bags on the floor.
The baby spinach, which I like to munch on as a random snack, got broken into four individual baggies. My good intentions wane somewhat in the mornings, and half awake and in a hurry, I will ignore the nice bag of spinach leaves my husband purchased at my request, because it is too much trouble to put a handful in a baggie. So it tends to sit there and rot. Not this week. In the morning it is no longer the enormous effort to pack a bit of leaves for snacking on. I grab the pre-packed baggie out of the drawer, and voila. Same with the carrots, grapes, celery, peppers, cheese cubes, snap peas....
I had some leftover grains that I had cooked up as a side dish for a meal which I also separated into individual helpings. I took the box of granola and did the same.
Sooooo, for today's munching pleasures, I have:
- a container of cooked whole grains with a dollop of margarine to be heated in the microwave for lunch.
- with it, I can enjoy snap peas, grapes, spinach leaves, and carrots.
- at one point this morning I'll break for a yogurt and granola.
- and a can of pineapple juice, and a can of V-8 juice when I want.
It took me 60 seconds to put that together this morning and throw it in a bag, and could well end up being the easiest thing I do all day.
That rocks.
Peace!

i have literally never been happier than i an right now. organization AND nutrition? if you wash and reuse the ziploc bags, i might lose it...
this is great...this would save me time in the morning. though I do wash my strawberries immediately...that helps.
You go girl!
I'd forget what I was doing midway through the packing because I had to stop to go use the bathroom or a kid interrupted me or something.
And woe unto he who odes not put the mayo back where it belongs. And she forgot to mention the awesome honey cereal bars I made for the week. (sigh)
Seriously, it made it easy to put lunches together, almost like a magical elf didit for me. :)
